I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals who participated in this softball season especially those individuals who gave their considerable time and energy to act as managers, coaches for our teams, our youth umpires for the AAA division, those parents who did not carry the official title of coach but still showed up week after week to help our coaches and our board members and of course our players. It goes without saying that without the help of all of these people this league would not exist.
The Little League Softball Board has already turned our sights to the upcoming 2011 season and now that this new board can no longer be called a new board since we now have one season under our belts we have set our sights on the task of improving the training and development opportunities for our players. In order to concentrate on this goal the board is in need of some additional volunteers for the following positions:
A/AA Division Director – this position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the A/AA (7-8 year old) division including putting together teams, working with the scheduling director to develop a season schedule and occasionally interfacing with parents.
Juniors Division Director – this position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Juniors (13-14) division including attending tryouts, interfacing with coaches to pick teams, working with scheduling director and division directors from surrounding towns to develop a spring schedule.
Uniforms & Trophies – this position is responsible for obtaining bids for uniforms, placing and following up with uniform orders to ensure timely delivery and ordering trophies for all-stars and end of season. This position does not require attendance at all monthly board meetings although attendance at the beginning and end of season is requested.
Registration Director – this position is responsible for interfacing with the RLL administrator during the registration period (approximately Dec 1 through April 1) to respond to parent requests and concerns. This position does not require attendance at all monthly board meetings although attendance during the registration period is requested.
Post Season Director – this position is responsible for attending one or two division meetings to obtain all information necessary for participating in Little League post season play. Additionally this person will oversee all tasks necessary for assembling our post-season all-star teams. This position does not require attendance at all monthly board meetings although attendance will be required at division meetings regarding post season play and board meetings once the season starts in May.
Parents, in order that the season runs as smoothly as possible and we attain the goals we have set before us for the 2011 season we need to have all positions filled and the board is asking for your help.
