Welcome to the 2010 Season!
Ridgefield Little League softball's goal is to have the best girls' fastpitch softball program in the area. RLL provides Ridgefield girls the best resources and opportunities to improve skills, have fun and be as successful as possible both on and off the field.
Our Divisions
RLL Fastpitch softball is organized into five playing divisions:
- Rookie division for five & six year-olds. Girls start the season using Ts and progress to coach pitch.
- A/AA division for seven & eight year-olds. Coaches pitch to players and progress to player pitch by the end of the season. All the fundamental skills are focused on. Games scores are not kept to help focus on skill development.
- AAA division for nine's and 10's.
- Majors division for 11's and 12's.
- Juniors division for 13's and 14's.
Inter-Town League Scheduling
RLL has teamed with with neighboring LL's in Wilton and Redding to play an inter-town league schedule for AAA and Majors divisions, and Juniors division will also have games against teams from Darien LL, Westport LL, Fairfield LL and others!
By uniquely combining our resources, Little League has created a larger sized league with more teams to play against that's fun and with a reasonable amount of travel.
Training & Development Programs
RLL has partnered with Frozen Ropes and Ridgefield HS to run several training programs in the pre-season and on-the-field. Our philosophy is that with the right instruction our girls will learn not only to become better players, but also have more fun playing softball! This includes coaching clinics for all our volunteers as well. Most of these programs are already included in your registration fee. A particular focus will be on teaching pitching skills.
Post Season LL All Stars and Travel Teams
RLL and the Boys & Girls Club provide our participants with the most choices to play competitive softball in the summer! There are two post-season playing opportunities:
- Little League District All-Star Teams are chosen and/or elected from our rosters to represent our league in the Connecticut District 1 tournament. Winners of the District tournament go on to play in either the Connecticut Sectional or State Tournaments. This year we plan to field three All-Star teams for 10U, 12U and Juniors/14U.
- Travel Teams are chosen via a tryout process to represent our league in the Fairfield County Fastpitch Softball League (FCFSL), which is sponsored by the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club. The FCFSL is a competitive summer league comprised of community-based (not multi-town all-stars) teams. We plan to field four teams in FCFSL including 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U.
Finally, we're always looking for dedicated volunteers to help us achieve our goals and welcome you to join us! Just contact our Division Director of Softball, Eleanor Anderson at
