Dear Ridgefield Little League Families,
How are you? We hope that you and yours are well and that the new school year is off to a great start. The RLL Fall Ball season is underway along with hockey, football, soccer, etc. There is no rest for the weary!
Whether physical, mental, or social, the contributions that youth sports can offer to our young players are countless. By fostering values, lessons, goals, and shared experiences, youth athletics places COMMUNITY at its core uniting individuals; players, coaches, parents, friends, and family.
With that, we are reaching out to you concerning one family within our Ridgefield Community, the Curran Family. Please take a moment to read the below…
Chris and Jessica Curran have been longtime Ridgefield residents along with their three outstanding sons, Conner and Kyle (‘The Twins’) and Will. For those of you who do not know, Conner, now a freshman at RHS, is battling something called, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne). Duchenne is a rare and devastating genetic disorder that weakens every muscle in the body, eventually taking away the ability to walk, hold hands, hug, and even smile. And if you know Conner, of course he has the type of smile that lights up a room and commands your attention.
Several years ago, Chris and Jess started, KOMD – Kindness Over Muscular Dystrophy. KOMD is a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to provide charitable giving to support Muscular Dystrophy research as well as benevolent assistance and advocacy to those in need. They are also proud sponsors of RLL and RTB – you can see their large banner hanging at Jensen Field.
RLL would like to invite you to support one of our own—the Curran family—at the 9th Annual Kindness Over Muscular Dystrophy (KOMD) Fundraiser on Saturday, September 27th, 7–11pm at Captain Lawrence Brewery (Elmsford, NY).
Last year’s event raised $414,000—funding life-changing support such as wheelchairs, accessible vans, home modifications, and critical research at Stanford aimed at breakthrough gene therapy. Every ticket, donation, and auction bid truly makes a difference for Conner and others fighting this disease.
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FUN COMMUNITY EVENTS OF THE YEAR TOO! Once you attend, you will add this to your calendar every year.

Conner is an incredible young man, full of strength and positivity, and an inspiration to all of us. Let’s show him that the town of Ridgefield and his Little League community stands with him in this fight. If you cannot attend the event, please consider a straight donation.
Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and support—we hope to see many of you on September 27th.
Sincerely,
The Ridgefield Little League Board
